Yenzani Children’s Home – Sponsorship of ICT Lab
The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly changed South Africa’s education learning and teaching methods with the introduction of e-learning platforms. These e-learning platforms were unexpected – schools, teachers, parents, and learners had to swiftly adopt to online learning without much notice or training.
Esri South Africa recognised the digital educational need within the community and recently completed an IT Infrastructure audit at Yenzani Children’s Home. The aim of the audit was to ascertain whether Yenzani Children’s Home had the appropriate ICT technology to support remote or digital e-learning platforms, to improve and continue ongoing education.
Esri South Africa has sponsored an upgrade of the IT infrastructure at Yenzani Children’s Home that will open doorways to a wealth of information, knowledge, and educational resources, increasing opportunities for learning. The infrastructure upgrade included network connectivity from the office area to the children’s learning lab thus ensuring fast and reliable access to digital learning programmes in the classroom.
Esri South Africa Committed to Paying it Forward
The COVID-19 pandemic has undoubtedly changed South Africa’s education learning and teaching methods with the introduction of e-learning platforms. These e-learning platforms were unexpected – schools, teachers, parents, and learners had to swiftly adopt to online learning without much notice or training.
Esri South Africa recognised the educational need within the community and recently donated two smart devices to Yenzani Children’s Home. Two secondary learners were the recipients of these devices. “The tablets have actually made it easier to get work done,” remarked one of the learners. They are now equipped with the appropriate technology to support remote or digital e-learning platforms, such as Zoom or Teams.
Over the past three years, Esri South Africa has built a strong relationship with Yenzani Children’s Home. We have supported Yenzani through various initiatives and hope that this donation will result in positive learning outcomes.
Making a positive impact on the lives of the most vulnerable children in South Africa!
